MEET THE 2024 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Julie Leger

President / Communication /Competitions Committee Chair / Special Event Committee Chair

Julie has been involved with DNB as a competitor and volunteer for many years. She wanted to get more involved, so she joined the board in 2019. She has been competing at DNB shows for many years and hopes to continue to attend with her horse Davinci.

Heather Van Agten

Vice President

Heather has recently joined the board after getting back into the show ring in 2022. Heather has been involved with horses her entire life, and brings her experience serving on the board of directors for NS RIDERS from 2002-2008. Heather and her husband own and operate Spruce Lane Farms producing quality sport horses and haskap berries.

Tammy Smith

Secretary / Sponsorship Committee Chair

Tammy Smith has been riding and working with horses her entire life. She’s been known to cross disciplines - participating and competing in everything from eventing to cattle penning, extreme trail and, more recently, western dressage with her 13-year-old Quarter Horse gelding, Laker. Tammy and her husband Jerry, own and operate River Meadow Stables, a full-service boarding facility located in Norton, NB.

Donna McInnis

Treasurer

Donna has returned to the board after taking some time away. She is no stranger to the sport, being a competition coach specialist, trainer and judge. She looks forward to having an active role in the continued growth of DNB. You will see her ringside helping others or going up the centreline on her horse LaDeal.

Lesley Ahman

Membership

Lesley has been involved with horses most of her life. An EC-certified coach for 25 years, she is dedicated to guiding others in their equestrian endeavors. A familiar sight in the DNB show ring, Lesley and her current horse Kamil Jahuar (Missy) have successfully competed at training through to FEI levels. Although recently retired from competition, this pair continues to explore their passion for the sport from the comfort of home.

Krista Friars

Director at Large

Krista has been involved as a competitor in DNB shows over the last few years. She grew up with a love for horses and decided to take up her passion 5 years ago. She recently purchased a new gelding , Ricoh and is excited to start the show season off with a new partner.

Jennifer Melanson

Director at Large

Jennifer has recently joined the board and is excited to become more involved with DNB. Jennifer is rediscovering her love for horses (and dressage) after a 10-year break from the horse world while she focused on academics and her science career and she is looking forward to showing her horse Quinn this year.
