2012 Test Riding Clinics

DNB is again offering test riding clinics on May 18, 2012 and July 20, 2012 at the PLP Show Center in Sussex, NB. The judges for the clinics will be Allison Gallagher and Susan Fraser, respectively. Parents, coaches and auditors are encouraged to attend.

If you’ve always wanted to ride your own musical freestyle but didn’t know where to start, please find attached a “How-to” guide for all freestyle enthusiasts. It was written by Nancy McAlinden, so many thanks to her for pulling this together!!!!!

Please take a read through the document and contact DNB if you have any questions (i.e. where to find someone who can help develop freestyles, etc..) as we are trying to promote and increase the amount of freestyles at competitions.

Qualifying & Selecting Criteria for 2012 Canadian Equestrian Championships

The 2012 Canadian Equestrian Championships are being held at the Bromont Olympic Showgrounds in Bromont, Quebec, on September 20-23, 2012. This is a provincial team competition, therefore each province has the opportunity to send one team per discipline. The NBEA and DNB have decided to send one dressage team, and have established the qualifying and selection criteria for this team (see attached pdf document).

2011 Clinic Funding Application

The New Brunswick Equestrian association has once again enlisted the help of DNB

distribute funding for riders who have or will take part in dressage clinics held in New Brunswick from January through November, 2011. To be eligible,for funding, riders must be members of the NBEA and have ridden in any of the following clinic: Cindy Ishoy, David Marcus, Jill Stedman, John MacPherson, Denielle Gallagher-LeGriffon.

To receive funding, riders must complete and submit the attached entry form by November 15th. funding amounts will vary based on the clinic fees paid, the number of lessons taken, and the number of eligible riders. in return for processing, riders who are not members of Dressage New Brunswick will have a nominal fee deducted from their funding and applied to a non-competitive (DNB) membership for 2012. these riders will be added to our membership e-mailing list and receive DNB notifications and news, including any future funding opportunities.

We are asking the clinic organizers to please forward this information along to all your clinic participants to ensure the word gets out. We can only access our own DNB e-mailing list, not the NBEA list, so some of your riders who are not DNB members may miss this message. We do not want them to miss out on their funding.

There will be a Dressage Clinic with Jil Stedman at the Hampton Riding Centre on October21,22,23, 2011. Jill is a Level II Dressage Coach, Clinician and Trainer. She is currently training with Belinda Trussel. Lessons are $125.00 each or two for $225.00. This year’s DNB Banquet will be held November 5th, 2011 at the Chateau Moncton. Tickets are $35.00 for members before september 28th and $40.00 for non-members and members after September 28th.

Sunhill Stables Dressage # 2

Sunhill Stables Dressage #2 was the debut for many new riders to the sport. The top three scores of the day were Kim Taylor and Kommander N Chief S with a score of 72.7%, Emily Czerwinski and Bosko with a score of 71.4% and Debbie Zinck and Denali with a score of 70.9%.

Sunhill Stables Dressage # 1

Despite the rain Sunhill Stables Dressage #1 was a huge success. The top three scores of the day were Maggie Zinck and V. Pr. Rhasberry with a score of 74.8%, Samantha Atkinson and Jade with a score of 71.3% and Claire Archer and Saute Au Mistique with a score of 70.0%. Congrats to all!

Dressage PEI Show #1 and #2

Many NBer’s travelled east to attend the June Dressage PEI shows on June 4 and 5, 2011. Although the weather was cold, everyone had a great time! Maggie Zinck rode her new mare V.Pr. Rhasberry in the walk/trot division. Grace Gallow and Mocha Chocolatta were high point of the day for both days of the competition, with scores in the mid 70′s. Alyssa Gaudet rode in the Training Level division with her mare Diva, and had some scores in the very high 60′s and finished as Training Level Reserve Champions. In the Open division, Jessica Stackhouse had high 60′s with her gelding Hawkeye.

Renee DeGarie and Bosko were First Level Champions on both days of the competition. Michelle DeGarie and Denali competed at Second Level. Patti Gullive-Goucher competed Kane at 4th level and also had scores in the 60′s. Congrats to all NB Riders!!!!

There will be 2 free Test Ride Clinics this summer for all DNB members at Princess Louise Show Park in Sussex. These were made possible by funding through Dressage Canada. Providing Commentary and feedback will be:

May 20th – Allson Gallagher, an “r” level judge from New Brunswick. Entry form

July 22nd – Susan Fraser, an “m” level judge from Nova Scotia. Entry form

Riders must have 2011 DNB and NBEA memberships AND proof of Rhino-Flu vaccine for participating horses.
